About Me!

Jamie Jax-Hadel

Who am I?

I am a crazy middle-aged white lady with a variety of interests, including slow solo travel. Jamie Jax-Hadel is an alias which I use for this website,. This is pretty much a hotch-potch of names people have called me through out the years. I grew up on a council estate in Kent.

My travel hero is definitely Bill Bryson. What I love about him is he describes his travels warts and all. I hope to do the same. I am dyslexic, so the chances of me writing detailed notes on my travels is non existent, however I find the most interesting events remain in my memory for a long time!

Managing Coeliacs Disease

I have a diagnosis of “Presumed Coeliac Disease” and react strongly to small amounts of wheat, barley and rye. Small amounts can be as little as a food item being fried in the same oil as gluten containing food. This can make life interesting when solo travelling as I need to take extra precautions to ensure I am safe. Like everyone else with a long term medical condition, I manage the restrictions Coeliacs Disease places on me in my own way, however eating out in the UK is a stressful event for me, so I am sure you can imagine this can be a nightmare when abroad in a country where I don’t speak the language.

Recommendations Policy

I believe in giving credit where it is due, so will name hotels, restaurants and attractions where I have had a good experience. However I will not be naming businesses that I would not recommend. I will say what, why, how something happened without the use of a name and leave feedback in another, more appropriate way.

This site is not about making money, although let’s be honest, if money comes along, all the better. However, I have seen many websites where the author only recommends places who are paying them to do so. Sometimes and even worse, they recommend places they have not even been. This is not very helpful to people like me.

Initially this website will be about my solo travels, with my other interests interlinking with this.

So time for me to stop procrastinating and make my goal of a website come to life.

Enjoy
